Top 5 Albums of 2022 (so far)

Experiencing a coming-of-age? Getting through a tough break up? Embracing a hot girl summer? Falling in and out of love for the first time? Wanting to dance the night away? Or did you just find your own voice and are feeling unapologetic? Regardless of where you find yourself in this long list of questions, some of the world’s favorite artists have come to prove there is a soundtrack for every situation. Here are few of my favorite of 2022..so far.

Taeyeon - INVU SMTOWN

INVU Taeyeon

Earlier this year, K-POP legend and Girls Generation’ leader gifted us a Valentine’s Day present to remember. From the smooth and catchy title track, “INVU” to the euphoric “Ending Credits”, Taeyeon takes listeners on a journey of love, heartbreak, and self discovery.

Notable tracks: Set Myself on Fire, No Love Again, 그런 밤(Some Nights)

Highlighted Lyrics: “그때까진 피하지 않아 그리움은 슬픔이 아냐” (roughly translated: “Until then, I won't avoid it. Longing is not sadness.”)

motomami Rosalía COLUMBIA RECORDS

Motomami Rosalía

In her own words, Motomami is "structured in binaries, two types of contrasting energy." and you’ll definitely get the best of both worlds with tracks like “HENTAI” (that explores the topic of sex in a humorous way backed by delicate vocals and a fairytale like instrumental) and “SAOKO” (that revels in the complexities of transformation).

Notable Tracks: HENTAI, Como Un G, CUUUUuuuuuute, DELIRIO DE GRANDEZA

Highlighted Lyrics: “Las llamas son bonitas porque no tienen orden/ Y el fuego es bonito porque todo lo rompe” (roughly translated: “Flames are beautiful because they're not afraid to burn / And fire is beautiful because it breaks everything”)

F+TM Dance Fever Polydor Records

Dance Fever Florence + The Machine

“The whole record is a ‘be careful what you wish for’ fable.” -Florence Welch, in an interview with The New York Times. Dance Fever is a headfirst, deep dive into going after what you want despite what you may lose in pursuit of it…and of course, a solid hour of nonstop dancing. Who says an existential crisis can’t be fun?

Notable Tracks: King, Free, My Love

Highlighted lyrics: “I need my golden crown of sorrow, my bloody sword to swing
My empty halls to echo with grand self-mythology
I am no mother, I am no bride, I am king”

HS Harry's House Columbia Records

Harry’s House Harry Styles

Kick back and unwind for about an hour in Harry’s house! This albums feels so much like a weekend spent well with friends; talking about love, sex, youth, regrets and all the other things that makes up life.

Notable Tracks: Love of My Life, Late Night Talking, Daylight, Matilda

Highlighted Lyrics: “You can let it go
You can throw a party full of everyone you know
You can start a family who will always show you love
You don't have to be sorry for doin' it on your own”

SC emails i cant send ISLAND RECORDS

emails i can’t send Sabrina Carpenter

Surely a biased favorite for anyone caught up in the tumultuous rollercoaster ride that is your 20s! emails i can’t send explores heartbreak, lying to your therapist, insecurity, family drama, a fleeting FWB situationship and tons of self discovery. Closing track “decode”, wraps up the albums on a beautiful reminder that sometimes it’s better to just let go than to overthink it.

Notable Tracks: Decode, Nonsense, Already Over, Tornado Warnings

Highlighted Lyrics: “Overanalyzed it
Front, back and beside it
Where else can we go?
There's nothing left here to decode”
