Relationships: “Cause I Know That It’s Delicate”

Should I have said all that? I can’t send that. How could you do that? Are we even friends? We don’t talk anymore. I’ll just let him figure it out. She doesn’t know what she wants.  Did your heart drop at any of those lines above? Did you cringe as badly as I did while typing those words? If so, take a deep breath and let it all out. You didn’t…well, aren’t you the lucky one. If I haven’t made it obvious yet, I’m diving into all things chaotic and gritty in relationships. Grab a snack, get comfy, and ride this mental roller coaster with me. So here’s the thing,…

Your Twenties: Wisdom From a ‘Legit Adult’

I guess I’m a legit adult now. As you all know, I turned twenty in February. I no longer have ‘teen’ behind the number of my years of life and I’ve suddenly become an ‘adult’. I’m not sure what that exactly entails other than more responsibility but it’s legitimate. I am now old enough to live on my own, drive a car, stay out past midnight, enlist in the army, smoke, and give great advice because I survived those gruesome training years. I’ve been conditioned to be a fully grown up adult with most of her stuff together. Here’s what I’ve learned in the twenty years of my existence…

“Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day”

So I had a bad day…or more like a bad week. I’ll be the first to admit I don’t like admitting when I’m feeling down. I’m more of a suffer in silence kind of girl; which doesn’t exactly help get out those negative emotions bubbling in me. Very recently I fell out of the habit of writing in a journal or practicing yoga to help release tension and I can definitely see what a difference it has made. A friend of mine started an Instagram page  about healing and it inspired me to dive into the gritty feelings I’d be avoiding. Because, as we all know, the only way out…

Poem: What About The Other Woman?

The Other Woman September of 2016 was the start of my professional endeavors in Chicago. I had this professor who gave incredible feedback that truly boosted my confidence in my work. He didn’t say he liked this or favored that, he read the work and allowed me to see what was working and what could be better, until it was better. One thing you’ll learn about me through these posts is that music is in everything for me. I listened to “The Other Woman” sang by Sarah Vaughan (later versions; Nina Simone and Lana Del Rey) and I had to tell the story again through my words in poetry. Here…

    Grateful for You: GratiTuesday

Gratitude | noun | the state of being grateful or thankful.   Here on Seek & Revel, we believe that it is so important to express our gratitude. We don’t believe in waiting for the ‘right’ moment to say the thing. If you love someone or something, we think you should make it known. We sometimes focus too much on the negative. We focus so much on what makes us feel less than, that we often don’t celebrate what uplifts us. So we decided to make a practice of shining light on the positive. “Gratituesday” is not a new concept. We were first introduced to the hashtag on Sophia Bush’s…

Who Am I: Expert At Overthinking

I’ve sat here far longer than I care to admit, typing and deleting sentences because I am an expert at overthinking. That’s a sentence you’ll probably read more than once on this website. I suppose I’ll start with why my sister and I even wanted to build and curate a lifestyle blog in the first place. Like most human beings we want to be seen and heard. We want our opinions to be respected and our voices validated…I don’t think that’s vain or needy at all. I’ll validate myself. I’m doing it now.    So here’s the thing, introductions are the bane of my existence but they are so…
