GratiTuesday: Friendsgiving Festivities

“Friends — How many of us have them? Friends — ones we can depend on.”

It is officially the season of pumpkin spice lattes and sentimental breakdowns. Before we lose ourselves in a daze over how productive the year has been and whether we truly kept those new year resolutions, we thought we’d take a moment to truly appreciate the people in our lives.

It goes without saying that our family means so much to us, but where we’d truly love to put spotlight on this week is our incredible friendships. Friendships, after all, are the family you choose. They are, 50% of the time— the first people we call when we’re having a rough day or when we want to share funny videos with, and 100% the ones we always want to go out to eat with.

Here are four of our favorite ways to connect with our chosen family:

  • In case it hasn’t been made obvious—our love language is definitely words of affirmation and what else is better than a game of soul baring confessions amongst friends? Grab some wine and you’re dearest friends for an intimate night in full of laughter and maybe some tears.

  • Pick a house host or rent a cabin, and everyone brings a dish. We have friends that love to host, friends that love to bake or cook, friends that love to eat, and friends who know how to pair their drinks. With a group like that, dinner is always a success.

  • From Charlie Brown Holiday Specials to The Nightmare Before Christmas, we recommend turning any favorite holiday movies on with a cup of hot chocolate. If you’re not invested in holiday movies, they’re great background noise for decorating the tree.

  • Friends don’t always live in the same state, let alone, country... FaceTime, Zoom, and Google Chats come in handy for long-distance fun.
